When the entire nation was solemn about Ayodhya verdict deferment on 28 September 2010, just 20 days back , a book named “The Grand Design” by Stephen Hawking heated the debate on non-existence of God in the entire world of cosmology .In his new book "The Grand Design," co-authored with Leonard Mlodinow, asserts that God is not necessary to create the universe because the laws of physics can do it alone. As per Mr. Hawking ,he contends that "as recent advances in cosmology suggest, the laws of gravity and quantum theory allow universes to appear spontaneously from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist. It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going." In his critical response he also says, "One can't prove that God doesn't exist, but science makes God unnecessary”.
The authors of the book point out that a Unified Field Theory (a theory, based on an early model of the universe, proposed by Albert Einstein and other physicists) may not exist. The book examines the history of scientific knowledge about the universe and explains 11 dimension M-Theory, a theory many modern physicists supported.
The theory has been advocated by a majority of people . The Grand Design" may sharpen appetites for answers to questions like "Why is there something rather than nothing?" and "Why do we exist?" questions that have troubled thinking people at least as far back as the ancient Greeks yet the backlash from the religious spokespeople has already begun, including the chief rabbi, Lord Sacks, who wrote an accompanying opinion piece in the The Times warning of the dangers of overvaluing scientific knowledge. “There is more to wisdom than science. It cannot tell us why we are here or how we should live. Science masquerading as religion is as unseemly as religion masquerading as science,”. And the Bishop of Sweden says that "Science can never prove the non-existence of God, just as it can never prove the existence of God.
A lot of heated debate has began on the ,fact of non acceptance of non existence of God .A question is pulled on Why the world took centuries to accept the Galileo’s heliocentric concept of universe ? Why don’t we want to come out of the prehistoric fear of super natural forces , and natural forces that gave birth to the existence of God.?
Hundred years ago man’s life moved from stone age to the developed scientific methods, where we came up with theories phrased in mathematics, and require that they not only describe what we're looking to describe but also make further predictions that can be tested. Then experiments are done , and if the predictions are not right,or not verified, then are altered or discarded.
We live in the modern society that has medical and technological inventions. (vaccinations, computers, electricity, telephones ) When we understand nature to that extent, we can apply it. Since we dont really understand what's going on, we can create all this technology, which we don't create based on mythology, philosophy and religious explanations.
As far as God goes, the theory describes where the universe came from, and why the laws of nature are as they are. And also the theory asserts, that there's no need for a God to create the universe or to create the laws of physics as they are. All of this can come purely from physics, from science, from nature.
So next time when you go to the temple or stand before the God, try to think beyond faith and religion because religion was just created to help us explain nature when we lacked the capacity to do so on objective grounds. The truth is far more fantastic than anything we've imagined up to this point so go beyond your imagination and explore the unexplored horizon.
